One of the best things about being a retired chef is sharing foodie discoveries with the world, and Thomas's Taverna in Otley is one such place!Quiet and unassuming, this hidden gem is a mouth-watering authentic Greek epicurean delight in the heart of West Yorkshire.An unmissable favourite when venturing into this iconic market town, the gyros traditionally comes with either pork or chicken, or choose either Greek sausage or halloumi, and is utterly delicious. It's wrapped in a tender and fluffy pita bread, and served with crunchy onion, cold tomato, zingy tzatziki, and seasoned hot chips. What more could you ask for?!We like to pair it with a frappe, and sometimes a heavenly slice of bougatsa (a crispy filo parcel, which encases rich velvety custard, and is doused in powdered sugar and cinnamon).
